Christophe and Geraldine Pialoux of Domaine du Picatier began making wine in 2007 in the Cote Roannaise, in the village of Saint-Haon-le-Vieux. The domaine was previously run by Pierre Rousset who handed over the seven hectare estate and cellar to the Pialoux. Geraldine was born about 30 km from the cellar, while Christophe is from Auvergne. Their first 10 years were punctuated by difficult harvests with frost and heavy hail producing very little wine, which unfortunately led them to sell the chambre d'hotes they had been working hard on developing. The domaine comprises 6 hectares of Gamay with a single hectare of 40 year old Pinot Noir planted as well as one hectare of Chardonnay, planted here in the early 1980s.

100% Gamay from 45-year-old vines on granitic soils. 15-day maceration in whole bunches in enameled vats. The cuvee is made up of 2/3 free-run juice + 1/3 press juice
Elevage takes place in fiberglass vats.
