"Gauthier Olivier, a Parisian native, obtained his Professional Agricultural Business Manager Certificate (BPREA) in Montpellier in 2014/2015 and moved to Languedoc in search of vineyards. He found an exceptional terroir in Berlou, where he produced his first vintage under the name "Serres de Merly" in 2016. He creates cuvées mainly from single grape varieties and experiments with various winemaking techniques. In 2021, Gauthier sold his Berlou vines and bought a 3-hectare plot in Lugné, where he now vinifies his wines under the name "Meïgoon". The vineyard consists of 40-year-old Carignan, Syrah, Cinsault, Grenache Noir, and Grenache Blanc vines on shale soil near the Orb river. Gauthier underwent major restructuring work on the vines, which had been neglected for several years." -Grain.vin
