"Renaud Boyer, hailing from a family of winemakers, stands out in Burgundy as an anomaly. Originally trained as an engineer, he seized the opportunity in 2001 to take over his cousin's vineyards in Saint Romain. He works with 5 hectares of land in Saint Romain and Puligny, employing manual labor and horse farming. While his father follows conventional methods, Renaud adamantly adheres to natural winemaking, seeking advice from like-minded winemakers and focusing on vineyard care. He minimizes intervention in the cellar, preferring slow pressing for Chardonnays and whole bunch maceration for Pinot noir, emphasizing purity and immediate flavors. His wines rest in barrel by gravity for a minimum of 12 months, remaining unfined, unfiltered, and sulfur-free since 2008." -Vivant Selections
